About the Presenter:
Pravin K Vaddavalli completed his basic medical education at Bangalore Medical College and after an MD in Ophthalmology from Guntur Medical College, he came to LVPEI for a Fellowship in Cornea and Anterior Segment, and subsequently joined the Institute as a consultant in the cornea services. He serves as faculty for several programs and has trained undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, optometrists, paramedical staff and subspecialty fellows. Dr Vaddavalli received the Young Investigator Award for outstanding research in clinical ophthalmology for 2005 at the second Singapore Eye Research Institute – Association for Research in Vision Ophthalmology (SERI – ARVO) meeting in Singapore. He was also shortlisted for the Col Rangachary award in this year's All India Ophthalmology Society meeting for his work on confocal microscopy. Currently, he is incharge of the refractive services and contact lens units at L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. He is actively involved in several research projects, in contact lens and refractive surgery and corneal inlays. His areas of interest include corneal surgery, cataract and refractive surgery, contact lens and corneal diagnostics. He has also devised innovative modifications in deep lamellar and penetrating keratoplasty. He has published several papers, and presented papers and posters in international and national forums.
